THE "TENIMENTI TERRE IMPERIALI" (MIT DEUTSCHER UEBERSETZUNG)

 

The "TENIMENTI" aka The LANDHOLDINGS

The Tenimenti Terre Imperiali comprise five distinct parcels of land, with surface areas ranging from 20 hectares to 0.24 hectares, located along an ideal line running parallel to the Tanaro River, with the westernmost properties in La Morra and the easternmost in Castelnuovo Calcea, encompassing the 3 local regions of the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato.

The distinction in denomination was conceived according to a specific principle: 

1. a “TENUTA” (Estate) consists of a parcel of land (even if divided into several plots) that includes substantial residential and production facilities within its boundaries. 
2. A “PODERE” (Farmstead), on the other hand, consists of a parcel of land (even if divided into several plots), preferably featuring at least a minimal masonry structure (such as a ciabot). Finally, 
3. a “VIGNA” (Vineyard) consists solely of a single, contiguous parcel of land.

So we can consider the whole "TENIMENTI" as it follows:

• TENUTA (Estate) CA’ GROSSA  – Barbaresco 
• PODERE (Farmstead) ANTICO DI MONTEFORCHE – Govone
• PODERE (Farmstead) SAN ROCCO DEGLI ALERAMICI – Castelnuovo Calcea
• VIGNA  (Vineyard) COSTA DI CASTELLERO – Priocca
• VIGNA  (Vineyard)  CONTESSA ELZBIETA – La Morra

When considering an English translation of the term “Tenimenti,” and given that the word “Estate” is already used to translate “Tenuta,” the most appropriate solution is “Landholding,” or, in the plural, “Landholdings,” referring to the entire system of estates, farmsteads, and individual vineyards. Therefore, Tenimenti Terre Imperiali can be correctly translated as Imperial Landholdings.

The map above highlights the individual municipalities within the two provinces of Cuneo and Asti where the parcels that make up the Tenimenti / Landholdings are located. These are essentially situated along the course of the Tanaro River, both to the south and to the north of it, and are ideally connected by the A33 Asti–Cuneo motorway, which was recently completed (December 30, 2025). The blue line indicates the boundary between the Provinces of Cuneo (on the left, including La Morra, Barbaresco, Priocca, and Govone) and Asti (on the right, including the municipality of Castelnuovo Calcea).

(Die Sprache Goethes habe ich schon immer als tief faszinierend empfunden – und, entgegen mancher Meinungen, auch als musikalisch reizvoll. Aus diesem Grund habe ich sie bereits als Kind studiert, anhand der alten Grammatik meiner Mutter, die ich auf einem Regal in unserer Hausbibliothek fand (eine Grammatik von 1942, die in Bezug auf die Pluralformen der Substantive bis heute unerreicht ist).

Angesichts des großen Interesses der deutschsprachigen Welt an Wein freue ich mich – wir freuen uns – diese Leidenschaft in der Sprache Schillers und Mörikes mit Ihnen teilen zu dürfen.

Die Tenimenti Terre Imperiali bestehen aus fünf unterschiedlichen Grundstücken, deren Größe von 0,24 bis 20 Hektar reicht. Sie liegen entlang einer idealen Linie parallel zum Fluss Tanaro. Die westlichsten Parzellen befinden sich in La Morra, die östlichsten in Castelnuovo Calcea, und sie erstrecken sich über die drei Regionen Langhe, Roero und Monferrato.

Die Bezeichnungen der einzelnen Grundstücke folgen einem klaren Prinzip:

• Ein „TENUTA“ (Landgut) ist ein Grundstück – auch wenn es in mehrere Parzellen unterteilt ist – das wesentliche Wohn- und Produktionsgebäude umfasst.

• Ein „PODERE“ (Hofstelle) ist ein Grundstück – ebenfalls eventuell in mehrere Parzellen aufgeteilt – und verfügt idealerweise über mindestens ein kleines Mauerwerk, wie z. B. einen Ciabot (ein kleines Häuschen zur Unterbringung von Werkzeugen).

• Eine „VIGNA“ (Weinberg) besteht aus einer einzigen, zusammenhängenden Parzelle.

Die Tenimenti lassen sich somit wie folgt einteilen:

• TENUTA (Landgut) CA’ GROSSA – Barbaresco

• PODERE (Hofstelle) ANTICO DI MONTEFORCHE – Govone

• PODERE (Hofstelle) SAN ROCCO DEGLI ALERAMICI – Castelnuovo Calcea

• VIGNA (Weinberg) COSTA DI CASTELLERO – Priocca

• VIGNA (Weinberg) CONTESSA ELZBIETA – La Morra

Der Begriff „Tenimenti“ kann im Deutschen am besten mit „Landbesitz“ (Plural: Landbesitze) wiedergegeben werden, da „Landgut“ bereits für Tenuta verwendet wird. Er umfasst das gesamte System aus Landgütern, Hofstellen und Weinbergen. Deshalb kann Tenimenti Terre Imperiali korrekt als Kaiserliche Landbesitze übersetzt werden.

Auf der Karte oben sind die Gemeinden in den Provinzen Cuneo und Asti markiert, in denen sich die einzelnen Parzellen der Tenimenti / Landbesitze befinden. Sie liegen größtenteils entlang des Tanaro-Flusses, sowohl südlich als auch nördlich davon, und sind idealerweise über die kürzlich fertiggestellte A33-Autobahn Asti–Cuneo (30. Dezember 2025) miteinander verbunden. Die blaue Linie zeigt die Grenze zwischen den Provinzen Cuneo (links, einschließlich La Morra, Barbaresco, Priocca und Govone) und Asti (rechts, einschließlich Castelnuovo Calcea).
